How to Find Your MAC Address

What is a MAC address?

MAC (Media Access Control) address is a hardware address that uniquely identifies each computer on a network. Every networked hardware device - such as a PC network interface card (NIC) has a MAC address. Each MAC address is always unique.

Why do I need to give you my MAC address?

The basic reason is software piracy. As you may be aware once a new software comes in the market so are its cracks and keys. To avoid un-authorized usage of its software Mindbuilt maps this MAC address into the software so that Mindbuilt APT server may only run on that particular PC. Client software may run on any computer.

How do I get the MAC address of the computer running Mindbuilt APT server?

If you are running Windows 95/98/ME:

Click 'Start', then 'Run'
In the resulting dialogue box, type 'winipcfg'
You should see a window appear similar to the one pictured below:

Towards the top of the window, you should see a drop down box showing the names of all the installed network devices on your computer. Select your Network card connected to the local network.

Note the first item under the drop down box, labelled 'Adapter address'. This is the MAC address of your network card.

If you are running Windows NT/2000/XP:

Click 'Start', then 'Run'
In the resulting dialogue box, type 'cmd' and then press <enter>
In the command prompt window you have just opened, type ipconfig /all
This command will usually give you a large amount of information, including the MAC address of the network card of the machine you're on.

A sample output from this command could be:

The address we are interested in is the MAC address of the NIC [Network Inferface Card]. In this case it is highlighted in red above and is 00-08-02-D8-CE-AF.

Please note down this MAC address and enter it in the Order Details form.

What if the PC on which the server is running breaks down or is replaced etc? Will I be provided with another software key/ patch?

Mindbuilt will provide you with another software key/ patch if the previous server is no longer functional or is replaced, at no extra cost.
